The public radio and television broadcaster Norddeutscher Rundfunk (NDR) is offering a composition workshop with American composer Missy Mazzoli. Within ten months, each participant will have the opportunity to develop a new work, which will be performed and recorded by the NDR Radiophilharmonie in a concert on May 14, 2027. The three-phase workshop is led by Missy Mazzoli as head coach and is open to anyone interested in further developing their artistic work over the course of several months through dialogue with other composers and the coaches, and in collaboration with the musicians of the NDR Radiophilharmonie.
Composers with both formal training and self-taught backgrounds are encouraged to apply, including those with diverse musical backgrounds such as popular music and jazz, as well as non-European and non-classical musical cultures. Provided that applicants take into account the specific performance and stylistic requirements of a classically trained ensemble, all original approaches to contemporary composition are welcome!
