| Enrolments are open! Busseto’s city hall announces the 59th Voci Verdiane Competition – celebrating the memory of Carlo Bergonzi – organized by Fondazione Arturo Toscanini and Teatro Regio di Parma, chaired by Stefano Nevicati, mayor of Busseto, and cureted by Alberto Triola, General Manager and Artistic Director of the Fondazione Arturo Toscanini. The competition is supported by Parma Camera di Commercio. Since its foundation, among the young people who, by participating in this competition, have then taken flight towards a brilliant career, artists such as Aprile Millo, Deborah Voigt, Mariana Pentcheva, Jaume (Giacomo) Aragall, Vincenzo La Scola, Giorgio Zancanaro, Ferruccio Furlanetto , Paata Burchuladze, Michele Pertusi. Over the years, the various juries have been presided over by some of the most prestigious personalities in the world of opera, including Carlo Bergonzi (who made a decisive contribution to the development of the competition), Leyla Gencer, José Carreras (for four editions), Leo Nucci. The 59th Voci Verdiane Competition will take place in Busseto (IT), at the Teatro Giuseppe Verdi, from September 8th to September 15th 2023. On September 16th the winners will perform in the Winners’ Concert in Roncole Verdi, in Giuseppe Verdi childhood home. The Competition is open to all candidates whose age is between 18 and 35 for the tenor and soprano voice range, 38 for mezzo, contralto, baritone, and bass, by December 31st 2023. The competition is open to singers of all genres and nationalities, without any discriminatory constraint. The competition undertakes to guarantee full accessibility also to candidates with physical, sensory and/or cognitive disabilities, who are invited to indicate their specific needs in the registration form, in the section dedicated to Accessibility. Enrolment for the selection phase of the Competition must be submitted online.
