FAME’S Institute Seminar: Recording and Classical Music Orchestral Courses – April/May 2026

I am writing to share information about FAME’S Institute Seminar: Recording and Classical Music Orchestral Courses, which will take place from April 21st to May 4th, 2026, at FAME’S Institute in Skopje.

Course 1: Recording Music Orchestral Course
April 21–27, 2026
In collaboration with Conservatorium van Amsterdam

The first week focuses on recording techniques, film music, and the complete process of preparing music for film production, held at professional FAME’S Studio.

Guided by recording engineers, conductors, and media composers, participants will gain practical knowledge in recording techniques, music theory for film scoring, and professional studio collaboration, while developing an understanding of film composing fundamentals, from the initial concept to final score preparation, as well as the full process of preparing a composition for film production, including spotting, thematic development, orchestration, and session preparation. Afternoon sessions will focus on exploring a wide range of film music repertoire, analysing film scores, rehearsing and performing selected works.

Throughout this intensive week, students will gain first-hand insight into the professional recording and the artistic and technical processes behind music for the screen.

Course 2: Classical Music Orchestral Course – “From Classics to Cinema”
April 28 – May 4, 2026
Mentors: Eric Hansen (conductor) and Markus Däunert (violin)

The second week explores the rich connection between classical music and film scores. By working on both classical repertoire and music from some of the world’s most recognisable films, students will deepen their understanding of how classical traditions continue to shape cinematic music, as well as the differences in interpretation and performance practice.

Participants will work on pieces by composers such as Felix Mendelssohn, Ralph Vaughan Williams, Sergei Prokofiev, Dario Marianelli, Pietro Mascagni, John Williams, and George Gershwin.

The course culminates in a final public concert in Skopje on May 4th, where participants will perform selected pieces and present the results of their work. Through daily rehearsals, lectures, and workshops, students will refine their technical skills, broaden their artistic perspective, and gain valuable experience in both traditional orchestral performance and contemporary cross-genre collaboration.

All selected students will receive a fully funded scholarship. All costs related to masterclasses, studio work and recordings, accommodation, meals, and local transport in Skopje are covered by FAME’S Institute. Participants are responsible only for their travel expenses to and from Skopje.

We are pleased to share this opportunity with you.
The application deadline is March 15, 2026.
