We are pleased to invite young conductors to participate in the third edition of the International Conducting Masterclass organized at the Silesian Philharmonic in Katowice, Poland.

This year, the masterclasses will be led by Patrick Fournillier, Music Director at the Polish National Opera, Teatr Wielki, and the Jury chairman of the 11th Grzegorz Fitelberg International Competition for Conductors.

The Grzegorz Fitelberg International Conducting Course Masterclass 2024, conducted entirely in English, will be held on 1-5 July 2024 at the Silesian Philharmonic. It will offer two forms of participation: active (12 places) and passive (12 places). The active participation will involve:

• Audio-video recorded sessions, where conductors will work with the Silesian Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra under the guidance of Maestro Fournillier,
• Analysis of recorded materials to identify areas for development for each participant,
• An opportunity to conduct the Symphony Orchestra of the Silesian Philharmonic during the finale concert that closes the masterclass.

Moreover, Maestro Patrick Fournillier will select one Masterclass 2024 Participant who will automatically qualify for the 12th Grzegorz Fitelberg International Competition for Conductors in 2028.

The Masterclass 2024 artistic program will include the following pieces:

• Gioacchino Rossini – Overture to The Italian Girl in Algiers
• Ludwig van Beethoven – Symphony No.1 in C major, Op. 21
• Camille Saint-Saëns – Cello Concerto No. 1 in A minor, Op. 33
• Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart – Symphony No. 41 in C major, KV 551
