For the third time, the Tyrolean State Conservatory, in cooperation with the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna (mdw), is awarding the Werner Pirchner Prize. This is an international competition for wind instruments, which is annually presented in two categories. This year, musicians up to the age of 30 who play the instruments Horn & Clarinet have the opportunity to win an attractive prize money totaling EUR 17,000.00.
The competition consists of three rounds: From January 22 to May 1, 2024, interested musicians can upload their applications and videos for the first round on MUVAC. A panel of experts will then select 6 candidates per category who will qualify for the publicly accessible final weekend in Innsbruck from October 4, 2024, to October 6, 2024. The highlight of the weekend, in addition to various masterclasses and workshops in both categories, is the grand final concert at the House of Music on Sunday, October 6, 2024, where the 3 finalists per category will perform together with the Werner Pirchner Prize Orchestra. Following the concert, the award ceremony will take place.
Subsequently, the laureates may be engaged as soloists for further concert projects (in collaboration with the prestigious Chibulka Competition, Concerts at Festspielhaus Erl, etc.).
