We invite all interested pianists in the age range of 16 to 32 to participate in the 1st International Piano Competition ”Gabriela Weiss in Memoriam,” which will take place from July 3rd to 16th, 2024, in Mińsk Mazowiecki. For all qualified participants, organizers provide accommodation during the competition. The total value of all regular prizes as of today is 35,000 PLN (about 8500 euro) in cash, a recording for the competition winner, and paid recital cycles for the 1st and 2nd prize winners in the years 2025-2027. Extraordinary prizes will be announced at a later date.

This is the world’s first competition that focuses on ensuring the utmost objectivity in evaluating the artistic-musical aspect by the jurors, among whom there will be performing pianists. The eliminations already guarantee that the jurors will concentrate solely on the artistic expression of young performers and will not be influenced by anything else, having access only to the audio track of the video recording without any other data related to the performer. At the same time, aiming to guarantee the participants the greatest comfort during the live competition, each stage will be conducted in concert form. Jurors will not have contact with each other during auditions and will be scattered among the audience.

The ”Gabriela Weiss in Memoriam” competition is focused on identifying an artistic personality among all participants who can captivate the audience with their interpretations. What matters is what the young pianist has to convey in music – individuality, sincerity, and naturalness of performance – not whether everything is played flawlessly and without mistakes.

After each stage, among the participants who do not advance further, the jurors will select several young pianists who will receive an offer for a recital, and all those who do not advance further will have the opportunity to confront the jurors during short masterclasses, where aspects of performance and stage presence will be addressed.
