Erasmus Orchestra by INDIRE – Call for Expressions of Interest

Call for Expressions of Interest

for the Erasmus Orchestra

organised by the Italian Erasmus+ National Agency INDIRE

The AEC would like to remind you about the:

Call for the Selection of Young Students of European Conservatoires for the Erasmus Orchestra of the Italian Erasmus+ National Agency INDIRE for the period 2023-2025

Deadline: 18th September 2023

The Erasmus Orchestra is an initiative undertaken by the Erasmus+ Italian National Agency (INDIRE – National Institute for Documentation, Innovation and Educational Research). This pilot project is based on the idea of a traveling ensemble which, thanks to the universal language of music and art, could represent the value of a common European identity that resonates in harmony. The first edition of this project took place in the framework of the 30th anniversary of the Erasmus Programme in 2017. Since then, the Orchestra has performed over 15 times in prestigious venues in Europe and beyond, involving over 20 Italian Conservatoires and 200 Erasmus students in a professional and pedagogical international experience.

The value of the Orchestra in promoting Erasmus+ opportunities in the Higher Music Education sector has been welcomed as a good practice by the European Commission and many other Erasmus+ programme stakeholders and National Agencies. For this reason, the Erasmus+ Italian National Agency decided to open up the initiative to Higher Music Education Institutions in all EU Member States and Third countries associated to the Erasmus+ Programme. The initiative is supported by the Association Européenne des Conservatoires, Académies de Musique et Musikhochschulen (AEC), which has embraced the project, conferring prestige, visibility and promotion at a European level.

Application and Selection
The official Call for Expressions of Interest (please find the original Italian text HERE) specifies the admission requirements, the selection criteria and the financial coverage. Please note that, normally, travel expenses should be covered by the home instituton except for specific activities where full coverage is provided by INDIRE, including travel expenses. In order to be taken into consideration, applications should be sent by the institutions and not by the students themselves.

As a result of the selection, a pool of suitable candidates at European level will be put together with the aim of choosing musicians for the various activities of the Erasmus Orchestra 2023/25.  The list of suitable candidates will be composed through a selection of the applications sent by Higher Music Education Institutions.

Each institution is invited to send a list of maximum of 5 Erasmus students by 18th September 2023 by filling in the online application form. Applications sent directly by the students will not be taken into consideration.
